The Maine Coon is originally a “farmer’s
cat”. It is stoutly built and it can stand a
harsh climate. It’s still a natural race, so
cross-breeding is not allowed. It has a quiet
personality and a tough appearance. Although
its miaow is soft, it can clearly indicate its wishes. Despite its long hairs it’s easy to
keep because its coat doesn't tend to get entangled.
Our Maine Coon likes
our company very much. Where-ever we are in the house, he is
always lying close
to one of us. The only thing he doesn’t like is sitting on our lap.
He likes to get up
on time and he knows very well how to get us out of bed. If he
succeeded and has
finished his breakfast, he doesn’t mind to continue sleeping on
the bed. If both of
us are still in bed, one of us will have to leave because he likes
his space. We really
like the view of our tough tomcat sleeping on his back with his
paws raised.
Then you see a soft
hairy belly, which you had better not touch because his nails
are quick and sharp.
Watching is allowed though. He shows that he is aware of his
spectators by
opening an eye now and then and by swaying its tail.
For us, it’s great
to have a Maine Coon. We are very happy with Dante and we wouldn’t
want to miss him.
